This was the first time traveling with Emily internationally. Keep in mind that some of the prices are guesses of what it cost per person. We ended up covering the meals for each other throughout the trip.

Expenses:

  • Greyhound Bus from Pittsburgh to Baltimore – $30.00
  • MARC Train from Baltimore to Washington DC – $7.00
  • Metro Card in DC – $10.00
  • Flight from DCA – DTW – AMS – NBO – AMS – ATL – DCA – $325.00
  • Food in AMS Airport – $7.00
  • USD Brought with me – $100.00 – Used for taxi from NBO airport to AirBnB and Safari Guides’ Tip
  • Khweza AirBnB for 2 nights in Nairobi – $43.50
  • Cost for food for 2 days – $40.00
  • Safari for 3 Days and 2 Nights – $300.00
  • Drink Costs on Safari – $10.00
  • AirBnB for 2 final nights in Nairobi – $28.00
  • Food Costs in Nairobi for 2 days – $50.00
  • Miscellaneous tips/bribes/admission costs in Nairobi – $93.50 (Just to make the numbers easier)
  • Taxi Ride Back to NBO airport – $20.00
  • Megabus from DC to Pittsburgh – $28.00
  • Lunch on bus ride back to Pittsburgh – $8.00

All-in-all, this 10 day long trip cost me roughly a grand total of $1,100.00

That’s pretty incredible for a once in a lifetime trip to Masai Mara, all around Nairobi, giraffe mansion, and several other sites.
