Zach Getting His Suit Fitted at Phan’s Custom Tailors in Saigon, Vietnam

Having not regularly worn a suit in 2-3 years, I decided to still get a custom suit made while in HCMC. The reviews for Phan’s stood out the most to me on TripAdvisor, so I decided to trust them with making my suit. Here’s my brief Phan’s Custom Tailor review that originally appeared on TripAdvisor.

We went into the storefront without a previous appointment to get measured for a two-piece suit. After letting them know that we did not have an appointment and were heading out of town ~4 hours later that same day, they managed to quickly take all of our measurements, help decide what color for the fabric, and the jacket lining.

Flash forward to two weeks after the initial measurement and we were back at Phan’s trying on our newly made suits. My friend’s jacket & pants fit very well, whereas my pants were a little too tight around my thighs. So, Phan’s made a chalk note on the pants and adjusted them appropriately. The very next day, the suits were dropped off at our hotel. The pants fit perfectly!

Recently, I wore this suit while on an anniversary date night to a very nice restaurant as well as a speakeasy in Pittsburgh. I’m glad I went with a navy linen suit, rather than wool. I can only imagine how hot and sweaty I would get in a wool suit jacket and pants. The linen will be great for any summer weddings coming up in the forthcoming year. All I need now is a custom tailored button up shirt from Phan’s. From what I’ve read, they have online ordering and can make you and ship you a shirt from Vietnam – but, I’m sure it takes a couple of weeks to arrive.

I’m looking forward to going back to Phan’s the next time I am back in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hopefully, I’ll remember to update this post with a few photos of me wearing the suit in the near future.
